Linux... a free, safe, secure computer operating system alternative to Windows and Apple systems

Linux systems are very popular in the corporate world and increasingly popular for home users. The Linux Operating System is an "Open Source" program and therefore is free to all users. Students will be introduced to the various Linux system offerings, learn about the powerful free application (apps) that come with it (including Libra Office which is functionally equivalent to Microsoft Office) and see if it's the right choice for their computing needs. Linux usually runs on older PCs that are running slower with newer version of Microsoft Windows and can be added to existing Microsoft Windows system to provide a “dual boot” capability to run either operating system on the same computer by choosing at startup.
